Why did you choose ÂÜÀòÉç?
I chose ÂÜÀòÉç because of the outstanding resumes of the professors working here. It made me more confident in my major knowing that the professor have a large amount of experience in the industry.Â
Why did you choose your present major?
Growing up, there were many shows that I watched and enjoyed alongside my friends. But one apparent detail always stuck out to me. As I watched the TV screen, there was no characters that looked like me and if there was it was a harsh stereotypical POC. Many movies directed at POC like Princess and the Frog, the character was black but turned into a frog for 80% of the movie. My goal is to make a breakthrough in the animation industry in terms of diversifying it, I want young black girls to look at their television screens and see a character that looks just like them. Â
Please briefly describe your Scholar's Day.Â
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to truly experience the full experience of Scholar's Day due to Covid-19 but even when it was online it was amazing. The people there made me feel comfortable and ease my nerves about being interviewed, and talked to me like we were having a regular conversation. It didn't feel like an interview because of how comfortable it was!
Please describe your academic experience at ÂÜÀòÉç.
ÂÜÀòÉç has one important aspect about them and that's their population. I believe going to a smaller school definitely gives a more one-on-one relationship with my professors. I don't feel like just another ID number, I feel like I matter here and my choices, decisions, and accomplishments don't go overlooked here! Â
What do you like best about ÂÜÀòÉç?
The community here is unmatched. Being 8 hours away from home, it can be tough adjusting to college life so far away. ÂÜÀòÉç is a close-knit family and I think of ÂÜÀòÉç as my second home! I really feel like I matter!
What clubs or organizations have you been a part of here at ÂÜÀòÉç? What kinds of things do they do?
I've been apart of Figure Drawing club, it is a lot of fun to have artistic freedom! We draw models provided by the school and we can stay for however long we want.Â
What is your favorite spot to stop by in town?
My favorite spot is definitely Bagel Jay's, all of those bagels are so good!!
What piece of advice would you give to prospective students?Â
Take it easy. Everything will fall into place and be okay, and sometimes there will be be times where it won't be okay and that's okay too. Learn to see what you can and can't control, focus on what you can rather than what you can't.
